Во имя Отца, Сына и Святого Духа, Дорогие братья и сестры во Христе,
Сегодня Святая Церковь празднует рождение нашего отца среди Святых, Николая Чудотворца, Архиепископа Миры Ликийской.
Святитель Николай любимый святой всех христиан известен как великий защитник Православной Веры и чудотворец.
Новорожденным младенцем, будучи в крестильной купели святой Николай без всякой поддержки три часа стоял на ногах в честь Святой Троицы. Еще будучи младенцем, он начал поститься по средам и пятницам и принимал молоко своей матери только один раз, после вечерних молитв родителей.
Будучи молодым человеком, святой Николай непрестанно поучался в Священном Писании и вел очень молитвенную жизнь. В зрелом возрасте его дядя, епископ Николай Патарский, видя его благочестие, рукоположил его чтецом, а затем и пресвитером. Святой Николай выполнял все свои обязанности с полной отдачей и самоотверженностью, и все любят его за его мудрость и благочестие.
Желая прожить свою жизнь в безмолвии наедине с Богом, святой Николас пытался покинуть мир. Но у Господа были другие планы. Он сказал Святому Николаю: «Николай, это не поле, на котором вы должны ждать Моей жатвы, но обернись и иди в мир и там Мое Имя будет прославлено в тебе». В видении Господь дал ему Евангелие и омофор. Именно после этого он был избран архиепископом Миры Ликийской.
На протяжении всей своей жизни, и уже после смерти, святой Николай совершил много чудес. Он исцелял больных от болезней, изгонял бесов и совершил много благих дел. У него много чудотворных икон по всему миру, и Его святые мощи источают благоухающее чудесное миро, из которого многие получили исцеление.
В 1992 году мне поставили диагноз заболевания глаз, и врач предложил лечение. Затем я отправился в Свято-Троицкий монастырь в Джорданвилле в Нью-Йорке, где один из священников отслужил молебен для меня Святителю Николаю и помазал мои глаза святым миром из святых мощей Николая-угодника. Уже на следующий день симптомы моего заболевания начали отступать, и через три дня от них не осталось и следа. Я вновь обратился к глазному врачу, который подтвердил, что я полностью исцелен.
Помимо чудес, которые совершал святитель Николай, есть еще одна, более важная причина, столь широкого его почитания, такой большой народной любви к нему. Святой Апостол Павел сказал: «И хотя у меня есть дар пророчества, и я понимаю все тайны и все знания, и хотя у меня есть всякая вера, чтобы я мог удалить горы, но не люблю, я ничто» (1 Кор. 13: 2)
Любовь, дорогие братья и сестры, — величайшее чудо. Святой Николай отдал все свое богатство бедным и нуждающимся из-за любви. Именно из-за любви Отец послал Своего Сына спасти нас. Из-за любви Христос умер на Кресте и воскрес из мертвых для нас.
Я путешествую русской земле уже две недели и поклонялся многим нашим Святых, которые почивают здесь своими мощами. Одно общее имеют все святые, — это любовь к Богу и ближнему. Любовь — это то, что делает святого святым!
Святой Порфирий на горе Афон сказал: «Что делает человека святым, это любовь, благоговение перед Христом. Когда Христос войдет в нашу душу, все внутри нас будет изменено. Он также сказал: «Призыв к святости — это не только для тех. кто живет монашеской жизнью, человек может стать святым где угодно, через кротость, терпение и любовь».
Давайте брать пример любви, которую показывает нам сегодня Святитель Николай. Если наш сосед страдает, давайте будем чудом в его жизни. Затем, как сказал святой Порфирий: «мы тоже можем быть святыми».

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today, the Holy Church commemorates the birth, of our father among the Saints, Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Wonderworker.
Saint Nicholas is beloved of all Christians, and is known as a great defender of the Orthodox Faith, and a miracle worker.
As a newborn infant, while in the baptismal font, Saint Nicholas stood on his feet three times, without support from anyone, in order to honour the Most Holy Trinity.
As an infant, he began fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays, and only accepted milk from his mother once, after the evening prayers of his parents.
As a young man, Saint Nicholas regularly studied the Divine Scriptures, and led a very prayerful life.
In adulthood, his uncle, Bishop Nicholas of Patara, seeing his piety, ordained him a reader, and then to the dignity of presbyter. Saint Nicholas performed all his duties with such devotion, and everyone love him for his wisdom and piety.
Desiring to live a life of solitude, Saint Nicolas tried to leave the world. But, the Lord had another plan. He spoke to Saint Nicholas saying, “Nicholas, this is not the field, on which you should await My harvest, but turn around and go into the world, and there My Name shalt be glorified in you”. In the vision, the Lord gave him a Gospel and an omophorion. It was after this, that he was chosen as archbishop of Myra and Lycia.
Throughout his life, and after death, Saint Nicholas has worked many miracles. He has healed the sick from diseases, cast out demons, and done many wondrous works. He has many wonder working icons through the world, and His holy relics flow with miraculous myrrh, from which many have received healing.
In 1992, I was diagnosed with an eye disease and the doctor suggested treatment. I then went to the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville New York, where one of the priests served a Moleben for me to Saint Nicolas, and anointed me eye with the holy myrrh from Saint Nicholas relics. The very next day, my symptoms began to disappear, and within three days, I was symptom free. I went back to the eye doctor, who confirmed that I was completely healed.
Besides the miracles that Saint Nicholas has worked , there is another, more important reason why He is so honored. Saint Paul said, “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, 1 am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:2)
Love, dear brothers and sisters is the greatest miracle. Saint Nicholas gave away all his wealth to the poor and needy because of love. It is because of love, that the Father sent His Son to save us. It is because of love that Christ died on the cross, and rose from the dead for us.
I have been traveling throughout the Russian land for two weeks now, and have venerated so many of our Holy Saints. The one thing that every Saint had in common, is love for God and neighbor. Love is what makes a Saint!
Saint Porphyrios of Mount Athos said, “What makes a person holy is love, the adoration of Christ. When Christ enters our soul, everything within us will be altered. He also said, “The call to Sainthood is not only for those who live the monastic life, a person can become a saint anywhere, through meekness, patience, and love”.
Let us take the example of love that Saint Nicholas has given us today. If our neighbor is suffering, let us be a miracle in their lives. Then as Saint Porpyrios said, “we too can be Saints”.
